PAH!

What I learned:

Communication is king. Keep everyone involved in the loop, every step of the way and any surprises will be be easily solved wit the help of your team.

About the Project

The "PAH" app empowers and connects the deaf and interpreter communities directly for simple, manageable booking of interpreting appointments. Users can book Auslan interpreters quickly and easily whilst interpreters can control their own bookings and availability. My work on the project focused on the end-to-end product design process working closely with the client, Delivery management during the development and deployment process, and project manager keeping stakeholders informed every step of the way.

What is PAH!?

PAH! empowers the deaf and interpreter community. Users can book Auslan interpreters quickly and easily whilst interpreters can control their own bookings and availability. PAH! is the best tool to provide freedom, choice and control for everyone.

Being without an interpreter is frustrating, and there are never enough Auslan interpreters available to serve the deaf community. Deaf people miss out on being able to attend certain events because interpreters aren't available, and interpreters often feel frustrated when declining jobs that don't fit within their busy schedules. My task was to design an app that aims to solve both of these problems, to make it easy to book an interpreter, and aid in the scheduling of jobs for a busy interpreters' schedule. Ultimately, we want to empower the deaf community to attend those birthday parties, appointments or important business meetings.

The app supports the connection of these two parties by providing all the necessary details about a booking, for face-to-face and VRI (Video Remote Interpreting) - This has been especially useful for the deaf community during these difficult times surrounding Covid-19.

As an expert in this industry, Rachel (the client) saw many barriers that hindered efficient and successful bookings. Her passion to provide a better experience for everyone in the interpreting industry inspired the creation of PAH!

As the Producer and Sole designer of the product (aside from the wonderful branding work created by Eze Cortez (@ezecrtz) - Lead Designer at App Boxer - it was amazing to receive the below feedback from the client upon the completion of the project:

"Great communication, professional customer service and exceptional skills. The team are always happy to go above and beyond to ensure they are releasing a high-quality product. One of the very few companies who care about your project as much as you do".

The Product

‍Our workflow at App Boxer is fast. I mean really fast we aim to complete the ideation, user flow and wireframes of the product within 2-3 weeks of the first discovery meeting. This project was no different. As "PAH!" is an industry disruptor, our goal was to get the product to market quickly within the client's budget. Once the product is out, iterating and analysing user data will be utilised to develop and improve the product further. The first stage of the design phase aims to deliver wireframes that succinctly outline all functions of the product along with the user journey. This allows us to take the next step in the next two deliverables of the Kickoff Phase. The User Stories document is created using the designed wireframes as the branding is applied to create the UI.

The technology behind PAH! renders the competition redundant;

It enables a highly trusted experience for the deaf community and interpreters; a well researched and boutique platform that creates automatically issued invoices with NDIS and EAF payment information; built on React Native, Python and a suite of integrations.

During the Kick-off Phase process, we developed a landing page for "PAH!" This allowed us to generate some interest early and build a user database while the project was in development. The website was upgraded for the launch of the company and the app. It serves the purpose of informing users about the brand, the mission of "PAH!" and includes Auslan videos for FAQs.
